Transpacific Interactive Distance Education (TIDE)
TIDE provides the means for simultaneously teaching classes on both sides of the Pacific. With the aid of a transpacific high-speed data link and the Video Imaging System for Learning, Professors at UCLA and Kyoto University appear in person before students at their home campus and on a video screen in the classroom of the other campus. Students at either location can ask questions and receive immediate answers from either instructor and they can interact with students in the other campus classroom. The class is supported by the simultaneous transmission of high-bandwidth content such as demonstrations, graphics, video, and computer simulations using Interactive Multimedia Education at a Distance (IMED).

Master of Advanced Study in Digital Media
A graduate level degree program will be offered for working professionals in the area of digital media. The program will develop expertise in computer systems, multimedia content development, production, and management of digital media projects. The role of digital media in education and assessment will be explored, as well as the influence of digital media on users worldwide.

Java Academic Authorized Center
In collaboration with Sun Microsystems, a Java Learning Center will be established at UCLA in the near future. This center will provide training in the development and use of the Java programming language, access to experts in the field, as well as consulting.

Multimedia Training Workshops
To help educators use the vast resources now available through computers and the Internet, workshops from a few hours to intensive weeklong courses are offered by CDI. These workshops cover basic systems analysis, multimedia authoring, content creation, and educational pedagogy. Workshops can be customized to suit your needs both in duration and content.
